Unaffiliated have no voice in caucuses

Thank you for the informative story about new voters registering as unaffiliated (Herald, Oct. 20.) I was surprised to see the chart on how much the unaffiliated section has grown. I am wondering if it is directed at the “politics as usual” candidates, or if people are confused about Colorado’s closed caucuses.

I wanted to say if you want your preference known before the general election (when the candidates are already chosen,) you need to be registered as a Democrat or Republican. Your choice isn’t set in stone. You can change your mind, and change it back again!

Go to www.govotecolorado.com, and sign up as a Democrat or a Republican and change back after Jan. 1 to unaffiliated, It’s easy, and you will have an actual voice on who to pick as your representative in the elections in 2016!
