Halavach

FLC to showcase the ‘End of the Line’

Fort Lewis College Art Gallery will present “End of the Line,” the 2015 graduating senior art and design majors exhibition, from Friday through May 1.

A reception will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Friday. Senior-level art and design majors from FLC will exhibit their creations in the Art Gallery and Exit Gallery in the Art Building. Participating students have designed, curated and installed the exhibition.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Sorrel Sky introduces assistant manager

Durango’s Sorrel Sky Gallery recently named retail professional Masha Halavach as assistant manager.

Halavach, who emigrated six years ago from Belarus, brings an understanding of aesthetics and style and a degree in psychology. She oversees day-to-day sales and operations at the Durango gallery and works closely with the staff at Sorrel Sky’s Santa Fe gallery, as well.

Artists, crafts people needed for festival

The Durango Arts Center will present the Durango Autumn Arts Festival on Sept. 19-20 on East Second Avenue.

Applications from artists and crafts people can be submitted at www.Zapplication.org through midnight May 15. Juried by Durango-based artists Lisa Pedolsky, Krista Harris and Crystal Hartman, this year’s festival will showcase the work of 90 fine artists and fine crafts people from across the country.

Mixed-media artist to show work at Eno

Mixed media artist Kellie Day’s “Bikes, Birds & Blossoms” will be featured from 5 to 7 p.m. May 8 at Eno Wine Bar and Coffee Cafe, 723 East Second Ave., during the Durango Art Walk.

The evening will include art, wine and appetizers. Day lives in Ridgway, where she is known for her graphic design work through her locally owned company, Dayzign Graphics.

Merely Players to do Mary Poppins in May

Merely Players will present the regional live theater premiere of “Mary Poppins” at 7 p.m. May 1-2 and 7-9 and 1 p.m. May 2 and May 9 at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

‘Musically Speaking,’ a show at Rochester

Maestro Arthur Post will preview the upcoming concert “Music of the Timeless Spirit” during “Musically Speaking” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Rochester Hotel, 726 East Second Ave.

Post’s final concert weaves together diverse musical and spiritual traditions to explore music’s timeless pathway to the soul. He will introduce people to the Native American-inspired soundscapes of Paul Fowler, the vocal soloist for the concert. The pre-concert talk is free and open to the public.
