Absolute Physical Therapy and Wellness physical therapists Amanda St. Pierre and Casey Buckingham recently completed a course called “When the Feet Hit the Ground ... Everything Changes: Fundamental Understanding of the Foot and Ankle, and Biomechanics of Human Gait,” which allows them to offer orthotic services to patients.
The course covered gait mechanics, abnormalities and pathologies of the foot and ankle, evaluation techniques, footwear, orthotics, video gait analysis, mobilization and taping techniques, and therapeutic exercises for the lower kinetic chain.
The clinic now offers patients foam-based orthotics and plans to offer rigid orthotics.
