It’s going to be a busy weekend for sports in the Four Corners, and topping off the festivities is one of the long-standing annual events on the calendar in the Morehart-Murphy Auto Center Youth Baseball Golf Tournament at the Hillcrest Golf Club this Memorial Day weekend.

This golfing challenge Sunday and Monday will benefit Youth Baseball of La Plata County. And, as we have seen from our local high school baseball teams this season, the dividends definitely are paying off.

Go Demons!

The tournament format is 36 holes of individual stroke play with flights and 100-percent handicaps. The entry fee is $50 per person, with $500 in added prize purse on both the gross and net side for each flight. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. both days.

Right around the corner is the Sponsors Tournament for the Coca-Cola of Durango-Navajo Trail Open, which will be held June 7, followed by the Pro-Am and the 54-Hole Open on June 12-15 at the Hillcrest Golf Club. The grounds crew at Hillcrest is doing an outstanding job of getting the course prepared for this Colorado tradition.
