Election Day is coming soon and never before has it been more important for every American citizen to get out and let his or her vote be counted. Among the issues on the ballot for Bayfield is 5D, a mill levy increase which would add up to a whopping $1.50 more in tax per valuation of $250,000 on property within the cemetery district. For once we can vote for a tax issue without being taken to the cleaners.
Those folks who have kept our Bayfield Cemetery an attractive example of our community’s pride deserve a vote of gratitude and confidence. Their stewardship of that which belongs to all of us has been exemplary. The continuation of that stewardship falls on each of us now and I, for one, consider this issue a no-brainer.
Remember those who fought and sacrificed for your freedoms including your right to vote. Get out there and exercise your right every time you have the privilege to do so before its taken away from us. And this time, show your community pride without having to bring along your banker. Vote “yes” on issue 5D.
