The good news for the Demons: They’re coming home. The bad news: They’re coming off a loss.
Fruita Monument swept the Durango High School volleyball team 25-13, 25-18, 25-19 on Saturday in a Southwestern League match in Fruita, one day after the Demons won in 3 over Grand Junction Central.
Durango senior libero Gabi Razma said the familiar bugaboo of slow starts again did in the Demons (4-6, 1-1 SWL).
“I think they had the stronger start than we did,” Razma said in a phone interview with The Durango Herald. “They always came out on top in the beginning of the game, so we just couldn’t fill in that gap quick enough.”
Laura Lieb led Durango with six kills, and Berkeley Davis chipped in five. Logan Clark and Alli Davis had nine assists apiece, while Bella Bernazzani had six blocks for the Demons.
Razma said the Demons had trouble with serving and serve-receive, “so that’s something I think we really need to improve on this week at practice.”
