The Magic Beans taking over the Balcony

The Magic Beans are bringing their spacefunk, groovegrass and Ameritronica sound to the Balcony Backstage, 600 Main Ave., on Saturday night.

Band members Scott Hachey on electric and acoustic guitar and vocals; Chris Duffy on bass; Casey Russell on keys, synth and vocals; and Cody Wales on drums are genre-jumping musicians who will keep the jam going all night.

And having played with bands including String Cheese Incident, Disco Biscuits and Leftover Salmon, you can be sure this is going to be a pretty awesome show.

The band will take the stage at 9:30 p.m.

Hello, Dollface hitting the Ranch

If you’re planning to be out downtown on Friday night and are looking for something to do – and even if you weren’t, you totally should – check out some great live music with local favorites Hello, Dollface, who will be playing at El Rancho Tavern, 975 Main Ave.

With ever-evolving music and a band that can number anywhere from two to 10 musicians sitting in, you can pretty much bet that these indie-soul musicians are going to keep not only your body busy dancing, but they’ll work your mind as well. And with a new album, “Warrior of Light,” set to drop at the end of next month, expect some new and great things.

The music is set to start at 10 p.m., and there’s no cover charge, so plan on being there.

Get your tango on this weekend

There’s nothing sexier than the tango – or any ballroom dancing, for that matter. Join the Durango Social Dance Society on Saturday night at the Henry Stater Theatre for an evening of twerk-free dancing and live tango music by Lisa Blue and her Big Dance Band.

The dance will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $20 for singles, $30 for couples and $10 for students, all cash at the door. A dinner menu and cash bar will be available, and for those of you worried about your two left feet, there will be free dance lessons as well.

Dressing up isn’t necessary but totally welcome, so shimmy into your slinkiest dance dress and suavest suit and get ready to dance till your feet fall off. Oh, and don’t forget to bring a rose to clutch in your teeth.
