La Plata Electric Association customer service representatives have decorated “Power of Giving” trees with ornaments associated with dollar amounts from $5 to $100 at offices in Durango and Pagosa Springs.
Community members are invited to select an ornament and show it at the customer service window to have the dollar amount applied to an LPEA member’s account who is financially challenged with electric bills this season.
“It’s the ‘pay it forward’ concept,” Donna Arriza, LPEA customer service representative, said in a news release. “Or should we say ‘power it forward?’ No matter what, it’s giving from the heart, and helping our friends and neighbors.”
LPEA members can donate any dollar amount at LPEA offices in Durango, 45 Stewart St.; and Pagosa Springs, 603 S. Eighth St. Those who contribute will receive an LED light bulb or night-light.
Contributions can be made anonymously.
Separate from the “Power of Giving” promotion, LPEA members can also apply credit to LPEA accounts to assist family members, neighbors, nonprofits, etc., with bills.
