If the Demons were at all frustrated after a last-second loss to Aspen on Saturday, they took it out on their opponent Tuesday.
The Durango High School boys lacrosse team hammered in 25 goals at Montrose to secure a 25-3 victory and improve to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Mountain League this season.
“Six games in a 13-day stretch, so we’re happy to be 5-1 at this point,” DHS head coach John Robinette said.
Tommy Rodgers got the scoring going for Durango and finished with five goals and seven assists. Kyle Robinette added six goals and three assists along with six ground balls.
Jackson Steigelman had a huge game with six goals, one assist and five ground balls. Cullen Robinette added two goals and three assists, and TJ Rifkin had two goals and two assists.
Collin Barkley, Corbin Randle, Ryan Smith and Jeb Steigelman all had one goal each. Barkley and Smith also had one assist each.
Durango outshot Montrose 48-8 in the lopsided contest. Easton Verduzco was 18-of-22 on faceoffs, and Harrison Kairalla also went 5-of-7.
After the busy two weeks of action, the Demons will be off until April 7, when they will travel to play Fruita Monument.
“We’ll get back after it the beginning of April and be ready for more tough competition coming up,” coach Robinette said.
Girls Soccer
Girls SoccerHannah Marnocha scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Pirates blasted the Bobcats on Tuesday at home.
Alyssa Lewis added two goals and an assist, while Sarah Ross had two goals and Alanah Gallegos another goal in Pagosa Springs’ 9-0 win at Pagosa Springs.
Ignacio is back in action at 4 p.m. Friday at home against Telluride. They’ll also play at 11 a.m. Saturday at home against Ridgway.
