It never ceases to amaze me how creative our county government has gotten in getting their beloved property tax increase.
When it keeps failing at the ballot box, they’ll get even with the tax payer – the assessor will just raise the property values.
This year’s values have skyrocketed in some areas. In others, not too bad. One way or another, the powers that be have found a way to get more of our money to waste instead of having visitors and locals alike pay their fair share. Congrats, La Plata County, you’ve done it again.
I encourage all residents of La Plata County who feel they have had their property values increase drastically to file a protest. Let’s see what excuse our elected officials give us this time.
Maybe we should run off the remainder of the oil and gas companies. Then we can foot the whole bill.
