Low-cost blood screenings available in Farmington
San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington will provide low-cost blood screenings from 6 to 9 a.m. Oct. 15 at San Juan College’s Henderson Fine Arts Building, Room 9006.
Tests available include a comprehensive metabolic panel for $15, a lipid profile for $10, a thyroid profile for $10, a prostate screening for $10, a hemoglobin and hematocrit screening for $10 and a vitamin D screening for $15. Cash or checks will be accepted; no credit cards will be accepted.
Adults and children, who must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, should fast for 12 hours before testing to ensure accuracy. Water is permitted.
All blood draws are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Test results will be mailed within two weeks. These test results can be taken to a health-care provider for discussion.
Testing will be done by San Juan Regional Medical Center staff members.

Mountain View TLC to host open house
Mountain View TLC will host an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 100 Jenkins Ranch Road in SkyRidge to benefit Mercy Health Foundation.
For every visitor to the open house, a donation will be made to the foundation.
Mountain View TLC is a unique, collaborative practice that provides primary health care by board-certified family physician Dr. Kicki Searfus, personal training by exercise physiologist Kevin Dehlinger, nutrition counseling by registered dietician Lisa Smith and consultation by psychologist Dr. Judith Vanderyn.

Health-coverage guide available downtown
Kevin O’Connor with San Juan Basin Health Department will be at the office of the Business Improvement District, 850½ Main Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 12 to explain how to obtain free or low-cost health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado and Colorado Medicaid.
A new open enrollment period begins soon. These information sessions offer people the opportunity to learn about options and opportunities under the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.
