Sheriff's deputies arrested 46 year old Edward Venteroso last week after receiving a Christmas Eve 911 call for help from a 55 year old woman he allegedly assaulted at her home on County Road 318.
According to sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender, deputies responded to the 911 call shortly before 7 a.m. on Dec. 24. When they opened the front door, the woman fell out to the ground on her hands and knees and begged deputies to help her. She was bloody and semi-conscious.
She was admitted to Mercy Medical Center with head and ear injuries, apparently from being struck with a cast iron frying pan and other blunt force trauma.
Deputies contacted Venteroso in the woman's house and arrested him for First Degree Assault with a $25,000 bond, Violation of a Protection Order, False Imprisonment, and Obstructing of Telephone Service.
Venteroso is alleged to have assaulted the woman over two days and prevented her from leaving the home. He was restrained from having contact with the woman because of an alleged previous assault, but he has been living on her property.
Bender said Venteroso is alleged to have entered the woman's house on Dec. 23 and assaulted her multiple times until the next day. He allegedly prevented her from leaving the house or seeking medical care despite serious injuries. He also allegedly damaged her phone to try to prevent her from calling 911.
