It is important to recognize quiet, skilled people who allow our public institutions to function well. Stephanie Moran – a valuable servant leader on Durango 9-R’s School Board – should continue in her position. Her strong work ethic, respect for constituents and attention to detail have been tremendous assets.
I have served on the board with Stephanie for the past year and greatly appreciate her contributions to our community. Time and again, I have been struck by Stephanie’s work ethic to be well-informed about issues facing Durango. She goes beyond normal due diligence to scour relevant research, anticipate possible downfalls and understand differing constituent perspectives.
Take our recent school safety issue, for example. For weeks, Stephanie has been reading dozens of research articles and position statements on all sides of the issue. Then, to ensure the whole board increased its knowledge, she wrote summaries of the research to share.
Stephanie goes above and beyond to improve the board and district. Stephanie is motivated at her core to create the strongest possible learning environment for all current and future students. Her comprehensive understanding of the board and district is essential. She’s smart about policy and advocates for fiscal responsibility. She works tirelessly – not for her own interests but for the interests and needs of our local students, families and staff.
I am impressed by Stephanie’s reserved leadership and clear thinking; I hope she is able to continue for the next term.
