19-space RV park receives unanimous approval from county commission

Project to be located off U.S. Highway 550, south of Durango
La Plata County commissioners on Tuesday approved a new 19-space RV park south of Durango.

A 19-space RV park off U.S. Highway 550 south of Durango received the final green light Tuesday with unanimous approval by La Plata County commissioners.

The project at 9981 Highway 550 is slated to be on 19 acres, with an office, restroom and outdoor amenities. The RV park will be located on a broader 48-acre parcel, which is used for agricultural purposes.

The land agent for the project, Tiffany Rhodes with Southwest Land Services, has said the owners of the property, Tori and Tanner Kroeger, intend to supplement their income with the RV park so they can continue their ag operation.

The project received a unanimous, favorable recommendation from the La Plata County Planning Commission in July.

No one spoke during public comment. And there was little discussion about the project among county commissioners.

“This is a great project for this area,” said Commissioner Gwen Lachelt.
