After receiving numerous calls that the letter to the editor from Dave Peters of Hesperus (Herald, Oct. 21) prompted, I feel an obligation to clarify that I, Dave Peters of Durango, am still against the bag fee ordinance.
While I support everyone’s right to express his opinion, I believe the wording of the letter from Dave Peters of Hesperus is deliberately misleading readers into thinking that I have changed my position. I, Dave Peters of Durango, have been and continue to be against the bag fee ordinance, while Dave Peters of Hesperus previously has written pro-environmental letters.
It’s just more of the same unethical tactics used by the few people in support of the bag fee and a clear last-gasp effort to gain support. What a shame a small group of irresponsible individuals continues to damage the image of those who are fair-minded environmentalists. If you weren’t opposed to the bag fee ordinance before, hopefully this will sway you to vote against the bag fee ordinance.
