A different kind of homecoming

Jones to Hayes was Ignacio’s lone bright spot in lopsided loss
Blaine Mickey and Ignacio were upended by Pagosa Springs in their homecoming game just like in their home opener against Paonia. The Bobcats are 0-3 with a trip to Cortez looming.

Pagosa Springs ruined the Ignacio High School football team’s homecoming game.

Class 1A IHS (0-3) lost its third consecutive game 40-8 against the Class 2A Pirates.

Pagosa Springs (1-2) outscored the Bobcats 26-0 in the second half.

IHS senior quarterback Adison Jones found Wyatt Hayes for an 84-yard touchdown pass with 3 minutes, 50 seconds left in the first half to cut the Pirates’ lead to 14-8 at the halftime intermission.

Jones connected with Nick Herrera for the 2-point conversion.

The Bobcats return to the road for their next game, a date with Class 2A Montezuma-Cortez at 7 p.m. Friday in Cortez.
