Fort Lewis College has had a season to remember.
The coaches around the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference thought so, too.
Head coaches from each of the six sponsored women’s lacrosse institutions nominated and voted on the All-RMAC first, second and third teams, and they chose eight Skyhawks to the postseason honor roll.
FLC senior Ally Kvidera was named to the first team. She had 23 goals and 13 assists.
Each team is comprised of four attackers, three defenders, one goalie and three midfielders.
Kvidera is an attacker, and she joined RMAC Player of the Year Melissa Menchella of Lindenwood on the top team.
Melissa Smith of Lindenwood was named the Midfielder of the Year, Sierra Perrella of Regis was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Gianna Lombardi of Regis was named the Goalkeeper of the Year; all three were first-team selections.
Haley Kroll of Colorado Mesa was named the Freshman of the Year and was placed on the second team with Skyhawks’ Ellie Carpenter and Jessica Norby.
Carpenter, a sophomore midfielder, led the team in goals (24) and points (37) and finished tied in assists (13). She was second in the RMAC in draw controls with 64, 4.27 draw controls per game.
Norby, a senior attacker, had 20 goals and 12 assists for 32 points.
Amanda Cawker, Marissa DiCecco, Abby Kvidera, Carly Smoke and Alyssa Spencer were named to the third team.
Cawker, an FLC senior, leads the team in groundballs and is fifth in the league with 2.4 groundballs per game.
DiCecco, an FLC sophomore, had 13 goals, 12 assists and 25 points this regular season.
Abby Kvidera, an FLC senior, ranked 10th in the RMAC in shots per game (4.08) and 14th in goals per game (1.54).
Smoke, an FLC sophomore, ranked ninth in the RMAC with 1.13 caused turnovers per game.
Spencer, an FLC sophomore and Durango High School alumna, ranked second in the league with 7.93 saves per game and a .494 save percentage. She’s third in the RMAC in goals-against average (8.24).
“There are a lot of great players in our conference, and to be recognized among the top players is a great accomplishment,” FLC head coach Kelsey MacDonald said.
Sarah Kellner of Regis was named RMAC Coach of the Year.
FLC, which never before had finished a regular season better than .500, is 9-6 this season and 3-2 in conference play. They earned the No. 2 seed in the Colorado-based RMAC Tournament and will play No. 3 Colorado Mesa (8-6, 2-3 RMAC) at noon Friday in Denver.
