Addressing the America First Agenda and the need for constructive dialogue

Response to Steve Self’s letter to the editor titled “We must defy sellout” (Friday, Nov. 22): Steve, while it’s no surprise that you, as a registered Democrat, oppose President Donald Trump, it’s essential to respond with facts. On Nov. 5, Trump achieved a resounding victory, sweeping all swing states, overwhelmingly winning 312 of the 270 needed electoral votes, and securing the popular vote. This demonstrates the broad national support for his America First agenda, which focuses on strengthening our economy, securing our borders and restoring energy independence.

Your letter, filled with personal attacks, diverts attention from real issues. Character accusations cannot replace substantive discussions about policies that have positively impacted millions of Americans. Dismissing Trump supporters as a “cult” undermines the legitimate concerns of hardworking citizens who value his leadership.

Disagreement is a cornerstone of democracy, but demonizing those with differing views deepens division. Instead of focusing on opposition for its own sake, let’s engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of our nation. America deserves solutions, not rhetoric, as we work to build a stronger, united country.
