Not long ago when teenagers vandalized public or private property they were called juvenile delinquents. Violators were immediately reprimanded by parents (or law enforcement) and defaced property remediated.
Today, an adult delinquent occupies the White House vandalizing government property, processes and American history with impunity. The vandalizations (e.g., building facades, hall of presidents and national park plaques, the East Wing) go unreprimanded by “parents” (Congress) and remain defaced.
The graffiti word of choice – “Trump” – is used without discretion (“Trump”-Kennedy Center, “Trump” Institute of Peace) and often is placed on the public buildings in broad daylight.
Will the adult delinquent face reprimand? Will the vandalized properties be restored to their rightful pre-2025 condition? Midterm elections may bring a day of reckoning, but do we have to wait until next November before there are enough parents (Congress) in the room to say enough is enough and return the vandalized property back to its pre-Trump state when it was the property of the people. Better act now.
