50 years ago: “The Fort Lewis College Westerners Club began its annual Westerners’ Week Nov. 16 to promote the western culture and heritage on campus. During this week, everyone is asked to wear western attire of some type. Those not complying to this request will be guests of the Honorable Judge Donnalee McCoy and her Kangaroo court.”
25 years ago: “New Durango Police Chief Hal Nees, 44, officially assumed his new job Monday. Nees, who previously worked as chief of the patrol division in Boulder, replaces Chris Wiggins, who retired in June after 11 years as chief. Some 275 people applied for the chief’s position.”
