50 years ago: “The Mayor of Telluride pushed for changes to Telluride’s city dump regulations, after bottle and artifact collectors continued to disrupt the intended purpose of the facility by digging in the waste piles. The collectors even resorted to heavy equipment such as bulldozers for more efficient excavation. The city dump had already attracted national attention due to the controversy.”
25 years ago: “Actor Billy Crystal, who stars in the movie ‘City Slickers,’ opening today in Durango, posed with co-star Norman at a premier in Hollywood Thursday. The movie was filmed partially in the Durango area, and various calves who played Norman were trained at the La Plata County Fairgrounds.”
