50 years ago: Rapp W. Gawthrop of Mancos, according to a report from Colorado State Patrol, hit a bear with his car while passing Cherry Creek campground on U.S. Highway 160. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and “the bear kept going.”
25 years ago: Someone reported to Durango Police Department that a bronze statue, valued at $350, was stolen from Goodman’s Art Supply on east Eighth Street.
