75 years ago: The Mancos community received renewed hope that the government order to discontinue work on the Mancos Irrigation Project would be rescinded, according to an unofficial wire from Washington that was received by Harry L. Duty, chief clerk of the local reclamation office.

50 years ago: The Southwest Colorado Mental Health Center Board of Directors, during its regular monthly meeting, voted not to dismiss the psychiatrist director, Dr. Johann Marx of Denver, until the La Plata County Medical Society was able to find a replacement.

25 years ago: Durango City Council met in a closed session to discuss the action it might take against “the rebellious board of Durango’s Manna Soup Kitchen.”
