50 Years Ago: Fort Lewis College freshman Jim Miller represented the Durango Ski Club in the national 30 kilometer cross-country ski race and finished second. He finished 4 minutes behind Mike Gallagher of Killington, Vermont.

25 years ago: A survey was distributed to 1,000 middle-schoolers and 500 high-schoolers to evaluate whether a community recreation center would help change the opinion expressed by teens that “Durango is a boring town for teens short on cash.”
