75 years ago: Bargains, as part of an “appreciation day,” were announced for items being sold by Durango merchants in the San Juan Basin.
50 years ago: Buford Wayt was named as the director of the Inter-Cultural program at Fort Lewis College, after he served for a year as assistant director of the program.
25 years ago: La Plata County Sheriff’s Office reported that a drunken man with a horse was trying to get into Virgina’s Steak House, 18044 County Road 501, in Vallecito, and harassing the busgirls inside the restaurant. Deputies took the man to jail on an outstanding warrant.
