Curt Owens purchased the Trimble Springs Hotel and Resort shortly after World War II. He expanded the operation with stables and a rodeo arena. On weekends, he began holding rodeos at the venue, offering cash prizes to local cowboys. Owens also hosted hunting camps using the resort as his base. By 1949, he sold the business. The new owners declined to keep the rodeo operating. – Ed Horvat for Animas Museum, edhorvat@animasmuseum (Catalog Number: 13.07.6 from the La Plata County Historical Society Photo Collections)
