Although I agree the mall would be a great venue for indoor pickleball courts, I question the idea of the city footing the bill for such an endeavor. After all, how many people in the community would benefit – a few hundred?
We have been waiting years for completion of the river trail to Three Springs. How many people would benefit from that? A few thousand?
Far more people would commute by bicycle to and from the Grandview area if it were safer to do so. Anyone can see the amount of traffic on that stretch of highway and the amount of construction taking place there. Many people now live and work in that area. How many cars could be taken off the road? How much money could commuters save? Have you filled your gas tank lately?
We already have a beautiful new pickleball area, built in part with more than $1 million diverted from funds originally designated for the river trail extension.
It’s time to make the trail a priority.
