Concert series to benefit nonprofits

Organizers of the Secret Garden Concert Series at the Rochester Hotel are partnering with the Community Foundation to add a philanthropic component to this summer’s events. Portions of the proceeds from the concerts, which will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 30, will benefit 12 nonprofits and promote Durango’s music scene.

The cover charge is a $10 donation, and the donations will be pooled and split evenly among the nonprofits after expenses. The selected beneficiaries are Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dogsters Spay and Neuter, Durango Arts Center, Durango Education Fund, Durango Friends of the Arts, iAM Music Institute, La Plata Family Center, Merely Players, Mountain Studies Institute, Sexual Assault Services Organization, Southwest Center of Independence and Trails 2000.
