Symphonic band to perform Wednesday

The Southwest Civic Winds, a symphonic community band, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.

The concert will feature a side-by-side performance with students from Southwest Colorado high schools. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at www.durangoconcerts.com, by calling 247-7657 and at the ticket office inside the Durango Welcome Center, 802 Main Ave.

Farmington to host downtown art exhibit

The third annual People’s Choice, an art exhibit in downtown Farmington, will open Saturday.

Art from 57 Four Corners artists will be shown in 17 downtown venues. The exhibit will continue through the Spring Art Walk from 5 to 9 p.m. April 10. People can register to vote for their favorite piece, in adult and student categories, at Three Rivers Art Center, 109 N. Allen, between 10 am and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Voters must be at least 16 years of age and will need an I.D. to register.

Art can be viewed and voted on during the regular business hours of each venue from March 21 to April 10. An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. April 11 in the Farmington Civic Center Lobby. The artists with the most votes will win cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $250. There also is a San Juan College Student Category with an award of $250. People’s Choice also will include a Juror’s Choice Award.

Learning center to host art show

Durango Early Learning Center’s Spring Art Show will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. April 11 at the Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave.

The show will feature a collection of art created by the children at the center. Framed originals and handcrafted notecards will be available for purchase. The cost is $10 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets will include a beverage and appetizers and can be purchased at the door.

Euchre tournament to be held Tuesday

An Euchre Tournament will take place Tuesday at the Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave.

Registration will take place at 5 p.m., followed by the tournament. There will be a $5 entry fee, which will be used for prize money. The tournament will be double elimination and partners will be drawn randomly.
