Female artists to be featured at Sorrel Sky

Sorrel Sky Gallery will showcase two women artists – sculptor Patsy Davis and painter of landscapes Peggy Immel at both gallery locations, 828 Main Ave. in Durango, and 125 W. Palace Ave. in Santa Fe.

Both Davis and Immel and their work will be part of Durango’s First Thursdays ArtWalk from 5 to 7 p.m. March 5 and Santa Fe’s First Friday Art Walk from 5 to 7:30 p.m. March 6. The show will remain up through the end of March.

Backcountry Film Festival to take place

Durango Nature Studies will host the “Backcountry Film Festival” from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $10 in advance at Maria’s Bookshop or Backcountry Experience, or $12 at the door. Children 12 and younger are free.

This film festival focuses mostly on winter and the backcountry. All proceeds will go to supporting Durango Nature Studies’ programs. Films will include: “From the Road,” “Afterglow,” “Backcountry Baker,” “Out on a Limb,” “95 to Infinity,” “IRS Traverse,” “Powder Pilgrimage,” “Sundog,” and “Higher.”
