Morse completes two plein air paintings

Connie Morse completed her oil painting, “Along the Coast,” on location. Morse said you can smell the cool, clean ocean air and the feel of the sand along with the sound of the waves rolling into the shore.

“Evening Palms” captured the essence of a completely different location near Tucson, Arizona. The breeze in the palm leaves, the Catalina Mountains in the distance beneath the clear blue sky.

Plein air painting captures the sights, sounds, smell and even the wildlife present in a particular time and place.

Resource Center to host free screening

The Women’s Resource Center will host a free screening of the award-winning documentary, “Fight Like a Girl,” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Arts Center. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Written and directed by Jill Morley, “Fight Like a Girl” dives into the world of female boxing and follows the stories of those women who choose to step into the ring and into a man’s world.

Morley is also the keynote speaker for the annual Keys to High School Success conference Thursday at Fort Lewis College. While the film screening is free, the WRC will be accepting donations that night for Thursday’s conference.
