Telluride Fire Festival receives grant
The second annual Telluride Fire Festival will take place Jan. 14-17, with the support of a matching grant from Telluride Mountain Village Home Owners Association. The $45,000 grant requires that the festival match $22,000 of the grant from private donors in order to receive the entire amount.
The festival features artists whose work can often only be seen at Burning Man. The festival also will showcase a new interactive fire installation by 2015 artists, Jamie Vaida and Alvin Sessions of Grand Junction, titled “Calliope.” Free workshops also will be offered.

The Taylor Raymond Gallery, 835 Main Ave., will host the opening reception on Nov. 5. Eight of the 40 participating artists are from Durango.
Artists convened on Wolf Creek Pass in June to gain inspiration from the landscape and contributed more than 70 pieces to the show. The show will remain in Durango through Nov. 22. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for the campaign opposing the “Village at Wolf Creek.” Proceeds from show sales will support efforts to protect Wolf Creek from development.
