The Bayfield High School baseball team moved to a perfect 4-0 record on the season with an 11-3 win against Rye to open the Salida tournament.
Jackson Queen was the winning pitcher in a complete game. He went four innings in the mercy-rule victory. Rye’s three runs were all unearned by Queen, who struck out six and walked one.
Noah Chamblee had a big game at the plate, as he was 3-for-3 with a home run and four runs batted in.
Isaac Ross also was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run. Mark Loutherback would finish 1-for-1 with two RBIs, and Nic Twedt scored three times and stole two bags after drawing a walk and a hit by pitch on an 0-for-1 day at the plate. Dillon Ludwig also walked twice and scored twice.
BHS was slated to play Platte Canyon (1-3) in the second game of the tournament.
The Wolverines will visit Durango for a key cross-county game at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
