Behaviors, vocabulary of thugs and gangsters

With apologies to Robert Browning, there are so many disagreements I have with the surge of edicts, memos, directives, executive orders and retributions that have come out of the White House.

I cannot decide which is the worst, though there are many candidates.

I am appalled at the pardoning of the Jan. 6 criminals who stormed the Capitol in the name of Trump. He is implicitly pardoning himself for attempting a coup d’etat of the U.S. government. He has used the levers of the judicial system of the same government he tried to overthrow to avoid accountability. The criminals who were pardoned have stated they will get revenge.

I am appalled at his pardoning anti-abortion vigilantes who have vowed to resume their unlawful behavior.

I am appalled at the firing of FBI agents and attorneys who prosecuted Trump for his illegal activities. Retribution is not a government word. This is a word of thugs and gangsters. He fits that definition.

I am appalled at blaming DEI for the airplane crash. How despicable and disrespectful of the lives lost.

I am appalled at the renaming of geographic landmarks. When Claudia Sheinbaum, president of Mexico, heard that Trump wants to rename the Gulf she replied, “The area north of Mexico is to be renamed Mexican America.” That’s a great idea if names have to be changed.

I am appalled at the chaos of canceling payments and then reinstating them.

I cannot decide which is the worst.
