Best bets in and around Durango

Mountain Waters Rafting will host its annual Animas Float and Picnic for veterans at 10:30 a.m. Sunday beginning at VFW Post 4031. (Durango Herald file)

Spring Creek Horse Rescue will host its annual open house, garage sale and horse adoption event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 2888 County Road 234. Attendees can meet the horses and buy something to benefit the rescue.

There will also be horse fundamentals clinics with trainer Dustin McCuistion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for $20 per person (proceeds benefit the rescue).
