In regards to the story “School funding face-lift” (Herald, Oct. 14), along with the vote on the new Durango school board members in the offing and the statewide Amendment 66 vote, one might be interested in reading Amanda Ripley’s The Smartest Kids in the World: and How They Got That Way. Ripley is an investigative journalist for Time magazine. I quote from her book, ”Beyond a certain baseline level, money does not translate into quality in education anywhere.
The smartest countries in the world spend less per pupil than the United States.”
