Maik Brandt, junior defender for the Fort Lewis College men’s soccer team, earned a selection to the Daktronics All-South Central Region second team for his work in the 2013 season.
Brandt, a native of Stadthagen, Germany, started all 20 games this season for the FLC men’s side, anchoring a defense that otherwise was beset by injury and a handful of players in new positions. He played all 1,851 possible minutes in those 20 games, never leaving the field for the 11-8-1 Skyhawks.
The all-region accolade, selected by the region’s sports information directors, joins an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference first-team nod and All-Academic team selection and a choice to the academic all-district team.
He was joined on the second team by Cortez native and Colorado Mesa goalkeeper Micah Conrads, and Tesho Akindele of Colorado Mines was picked as the region’s player of the year.
