I am a Durango resident and proud that Britt Bassett – a solar-industry professional, business owner and talented scientist – represents me on the LPEA board of directors in District 3.
I read the April 16 Herald story about the ridiculous attacks on Britt by Christi Zeller and the La Plata County Energy Council with dismay. I read the subsequent finding that he is obviously qualified and eligible for re-election with great satisfaction. Britt deserved that vindication by the LPEA board, and Durango deserves Britt to represent us.
Britt has served diligently as our District 3 representative, advocating for local, stable, renewable energy and fair rate structures for all co-op members. He is also the owner of a successful solar company that provides energy independence and cost savings to clients in California, employing eight people right here in Durango with skilled jobs.
Britt is a diligent board member who keeps the best interest of his constituents in mind in all that he does. He will continue to do so, despite what Zeller and her friends in the oil and gas industry hoped for in their attack.
I am proudly voting to re-elect Britt Bassett for District 3.
