Children can safely trick-or-treat on Halloween in downtown Durango

More than 80 merchants to participate
Parents accompany children dressed in costumes during Halloween 2016 in Durango.

The Durango Business Improvement District, Southwest Sound, Durango Chamber of Commerce and participating businesses will team up to offer a safe evening of trick-or-treating for children from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in downtown Durango.

Children 10 and younger, in costume and accompanied by an adult, can visit businesses with orange pumpkin-shaped signs displayed in windows to receive goodies and surprises. More than 80 merchants, including The Durango Herald, will participate Tuesday.

“This continues to be a tremendously successful event, and we’re looking forward to another great year,” Tim Walsworth, BID executive director, said in a news release. “Credit for this idea and coordination of the merchants goes to Robert Stapleton, owner of Southwest Sound.”
