The city of Durango has received a $140,605 grant to support its open space and trails program.
The grant, from Great Outdoors Colorado, will allow the city to partner with Durango Trails to hire two seasonal open space rangers and two seasonal crew leaders to assist with land management and stewardship efforts.
Durango’s outdoor recreation spaces have seen a record number of visitors since the COVID-19 pandemic began, resulting in trail degradation and an increase in trash.
This grant is part of GOCO’s Resilient Communities program, which helps grantee partners advance outdoor recreation, stewardship and land protection work.
