I would like to add my support to those supporting Melissa Yourself for the Durango City Council.

I had the privilege of working with Melissa on both the Durango Discovery Museum and Durango Parks and Recreation Boards. Melissa was a breath of fresh air when she joined the Discovery Museum Board, with her creative and innovative approach to complex issues.

She championed S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education for all students in Durango. She also showed her leadership skills, serving several years as president of the board.

Her time on the Durango Parks and Recreation Board displayed her ability to listen and learn from both the board and the various recreation groups in Durango. She always worked toward consensus of the board, and that invariably led to practical and financially feasible recommendations to the city council.

Durango is fortunate that Melissa is throwing her hat into the ring and running for office. We will all benefit from her extensive experience and her desire to continue to make Durango a great place to live.
