The La Plata County Extension Office and Colorado Department of Health and Environment for Food Safety will sponsor a food-safety training class required for Colorado cottage-food producers and egg producers from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 29 at La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Requirements for a cottage-food business will be covered, including food safety, safe-food handling, cross-contamination and cross-contact of food allergens, temperature control for safe-food preparation, storage, transport and sales, ingredient labeling and disclaimers.
Registration is required, and space is limited to 30 people. Cost is $30 per person, and attendees who complete the class will receive a food certificate for display.
