Climate change key for voter

Thank you Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper for your support of the Inflation Reduction Act.

As noted by The Durango Herald, in the story headlined “State Senators hope for action with climate bill” on Aug. 6, Colorado is the 20th fastest warming state since 1970. We are experiencing more frequent and severe wildfires and extreme drought due to climate change. The climate provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act include investing in clean energy, such as manufacturing solar panels, batteries and electric vehicles.

Also included are incentives to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient and begin the transition to cleaner energy. These provisions will significantly reduce our carbon emissions. I appreciate our senators’ votes for this bill and their commitment to addressing climate change.

Even though the Inflation Reduction Act will greatly help reduce carbon emissions, more work needs to be done. So in November, I will be voting for candidates who will make addressing climate change a top priority.
