I want to thank the folks who are now emailing me with additional tournament information, other than the traditional yearly scheduled events. These tournaments, which are local fundraisers, compliment the yearly calendar and help to give back to the community.

I wanted to give a shout-out to a couple of events in early June which both will be contested on the Glacier Club course, north of Durango:

The first event is the 3rd annual Links to Learning tournament June 1, which benefits the Mountain Middle School L-to-L program. It’s an 18-hole scramble with an inclusive cost of $150 per player, and a handicap is not required to play in this event. Those who are unable to play can avail themselves of a post-tournament awards reception and silent auction for a cost of just $35. The entry deadline is May 23. For more information, call 385-7998.

The second event is the Music in the Mountains 18-Hole Golf and BBQ Classic on June 3 to benefit its music education programs. The format is a Las Vegas Scramble, where everyone hits from each tee box, then plays the best ball from there. Prizes include a free car and an auction from Synthetic Turf Consulting for a 300-square foot, 3-cup golf green installed at your home. The entry fee is $150 per player, and the deadline to enter is May 27. For more information, call 385-6820.
