I had the opportunity to travel to Aspen last weekend to cover a football game, and on a rare day of sunshine I saw how beautiful the little golf course looked just outside of El Jebel.

Don’t think I was tempted to pull over and pay whatever the fee was to get in nine holes of golf before heading to the playground of the stars; I kick myself now that I did not play.

As this is the final column for 2013, I must tell you there are several tournament events still on the local calendar:

The Blimpie-America’s Sub Shop 3-Clubs and a Putter on Saturday at Hillcrest Golf Club.

The Todd Sieger Shootout on Oct. 5 at Hillcrest, which will bring together the top 20 money winners from the previously designated tournaments this season on the Hillcrest calendar.

Men’s Senior Club Championship on Oct. 5-6 at Dalton Ranch Golf Club.

The Dalton Ranch Couples Tournament on Oct. 13.

The season-ending Mailman on Oct. 26 at Dalton Ranch.

Before I get into the results from last week, I want to wish the best of everything to Dalton Ranch head professional Fal Wood, who, as many of you know, is retiring at the end of the season and turning over the duties to Pier Nielson. Thank you, Fal.
