Commission accepting comments about county judge candidates

Nine candidates have applied for the judgeship that will open with the retirement of La Plata County Court Judge Martha Minot.

The 6th Judicial District nominating commission will meet in Durango on July 26 to consider candidates for the vacancy. Minot will retire Aug. 29.

The nine candidates are: Arthur Jacobs, Benjamin Lammons, Sarah Law, Keith Mandelski, Sean Murray, Dondi Osborne, Douglas Reynolds and Graham Smith, all of Durango; and Reid Stewart of Hesperus.

The application period has closed, and the nominating commission is accepting public comments about the qualifications of the applicants.

Comments can be sent to any member of the commission, with a copy to the ex officio chairman, Justice William W. Hood III, 2 E. 14th Ave., Denver, CO 80203, no later than July 21.
