Judge Martha Minot to retire

Retirement leaves vacancy in La Plata County Court

The Colorado State Judicial Branch announced last month the retirement of Hon. Martha T. Minot from the La Plata County Court, effective Aug. 29.

Minot’s retirement leaves a vacancy in La Plata County Court. The 6th Judicial District nominating court will meet at the La Plata County Courthouse on July 26 to interview and select nominees for appointment by the governor.

Applications for the position are currently being accepted, and eligible applicants must be a qualified elector of La Plata County and admitted to practice law in Colorado.

The initial term of office for a county judge is two years with an annual salary of $156,278.

Applications are available online and will be accepted no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Minot was appointed to the La Plata County Court in March 1995.
