Crash near New Mexico line sends man to San Juan Regional Medical Center

Second incident on Bondad Hill limits U.S. 550 to 1 lane

A pickup crash just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Highway 550 near the New Mexico line sent one man to the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington and a child to Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango.

Trooper Nate Reid, a spokesman with the Colorado State Patrol, said the man, who was not identified, was more seriously injured, but he did not have additional details nor did he have the identity of the child.

The pickup crashed as the State Patrol was dealing with another crash on U.S. Highway 550 at Bondad Hill.

On Bondad Hill, a fifth-wheel tipped on its side, but no one was injured, Reid said. U.S. Highway 550 was limited to one lane at the scene from about 2:15 p.m. to about 6:20 p.m., Reid said.
