One of two Republican candidates running for the party’s nomination to represent the 3rd Congressional District on the University of Colorado Board of Regents has withdrawn herself from the race.

Kristine Sposato’s name will still appear on the June 25 ballot, which has already been printed and will be mailed to voters next week. However, votes cast for her are invalid and will not be counted.

The Board of Regents is constitutionally charged with the supervision of the university. Its nine members are elected by voters in each of the state’s eight congressional districts, and one at large.

Ray Scott, a former Colorado state legislator, is the sole remaining candidate running for the Republican spot on the November ballot. Scott will face off with Democrat Robert Logan, a former Durango High School social studies teacher and veteran.

Ballots will be mailed June 3.
