Durango girls lacrosse team still searching for its first victory

A six-goal effort led to the Demons’ sixth loss of the season.

Jessie Sutherlin scored three goals and assisted on another, but the Durango High School Demons (0-6, 0-3 Mountain League) fell 10-6 in girls lacrosse to Grand Junction (2-3, 1-0 ML) on Saturday at Longs Park in Grand Junction.

Tymbree Hawkins had one goal and one assist for DHS, and Payton Randle and Alyssa Swan each had one goal. Hawkins now has 11 goals this season to lead the team.

DHS goalkeeper Megan Pope made nine saves.

The Demons will return to the field at 4 p.m. Friday at home against Battle Mountain and 11 a.m. Saturday against Steamboat Springs. Those two games will be the first home games of the season for DHS.
